018-Extra Skin

Published on

You know me, I can talk and I can give you an answer to almost ANY question you throw at me. Well, I’m about to get into a question that has been asked to me more times than you can imagine, and I’ve NEVER had the answer for it.

So what happens after you lose the weight, you’re continuously putting in all of your energy into workouts, you’re eating as healthy as possible BUT there is still that something extra, that can’t be worked off…your skin.

Laurie lost 52 pounds in just 10 weeks using T25 and Shakeology and eating clean. As she continued her journey she tore her meniscus in her knee while she was doing Cize. No, it was not because of the intensity or any kind of improper form. Her doctor let her know that she was receiving these random injuries because of excess skin from her extreme weight loss.

For Laurie this was like being stuck on a plateau INDEFINITELY. So, she decided to make a change and went on to remove 15 lbs of skin from her body.

This is not something she has taken lightly. It is not a surgery done only for vanity and she is not about calling it “plastic” surgery. Having the excess skin had effected her life in many negative ways including the fact that she couldn’t work out to the best of her ability because the skin was hurting her.

You can only imagine that in going through this journey she has come across a skeptic or two, but on the flip side has also helped people who have had the same problem by talking them through their decision. Join me for an intriguing interview with Laurie of her ups and downs in her fitness journey, her relationship with food, how she got to the point of needing her surgery and where she stands with her health now.
